Is it us or life has just started to get increasingly exciting? Be it the energising sunshine, the end of term for all you students out there, or simply the thought of a new summer season – we are all feeling it. So let yourself immersed in this wonderful vibe, hop in the happiness boat and start sailing smiles away.
We at Transylvania Calling have already begun feeling the shivers of our up-and-coming gathering as 8 August gets closer. We can’t wait to share seven days and six nights of authentic psychedelic sound, amazing food, and beautiful nature in the company of great people from around the world.
The last edition took place in a magic forest in the Transylvanian mountains near Gura Raului and on this occasion we’d like to thank all the locals who were great hosts, delighting us with their tuica, fresh milk and cheese and hospitality. We are, however, growing bigger (thanks to you!) and we realised we need a bigger home as well. So this edition we are moving to another incredible location, still in the mountains and other special places to visit, and perhaps a bit more beautiful and more suitable for our adventures.
We promise you will not be disappointed with the new developments at Transylvania Calling and that we are doing our best to bring you the best for all your senses. Get ready for a week of true psychedelia in an amazing setting!
This year’s festival is going to take place high up in the mountains, at a breathtaking 1800m altitude! A plateau like clearance on a mountain tongue is the place where it’s all going to happen. From the Venue which is surrounded by lush green forest, you will be able to enjoy a truly great view!
Be aware that in these heights the weather can change very fast and so be prepared well for all kind of weather, especially pretty cold nights and maybe also wet, so please be reminded to bring a decent set of warm clothing and a suitable, sleeping-bag/ blanket, izolated mattress and most important a good and dry Tent. Also sun-blocker and a hat for the sunny days on the dancefloor are even more important than usual at 1800 meters altitude.
„Saua Steflesti“– the name of the location, is the point of contact between the two massives: “Cindrel Mountain” and “Lotrului Mountain”, the access to this area is through the famous and truly Beautiful Valley called “Valea Frumoasei” (Valley of the Beauty). Not too far away (3-7km walk) you can find and visit the two famous blue lakes called IEZER (Iezerul Mic and Iezerul Mare) and also on the way there you pass by the mighty Devil’s Plateau “Platoul Diavolului”.

The area belongs to the city “Saliste” which is part of the county Sibiu. The next closest villages are Paltinis (30km dirt road) in the one direction and Sugag (45km good road + 15km dirtroad) to the other side.
